The journey is to get past our animal impulses because we are unique in the animal kingdom in that we have a sense of our physicality, a sense of time and space. Because of the aforementioned we are responsible for our actions since we have control. Struggle is over the primal impulses because we now know the difference between good and evil – what is acceptable and what is not, therefore seeking salvation over our animalness.
Women are better than men at this because women have life within them and give life – they are mother earth.
So deep down there is some sort of primordial knowledge that men are trying to tap down or are in fear of, but on another level are aware of (an inner awareness) that needs to be a part of the political landscape if we are to survive as a species.
Animal impulses are easy, what is hard is to do what maybe the right thing to do, but goes against our animal impulses – that which makes us uncomfortable and challenges our very fundamental nature.

(Comment: I note on 08/29/2008 the following: I really suspect that a large portion of our brain is not being used because that function has not been acknowledged or even known. Why? Because of the fear of the unknown on this side and how it might change our very being even though that is the very reason for our existence here on earth to begin with.)
