Insecurity of self is the result of the fear of being found out as to what that individual perceives as being their true self. This is the result of family interaction at a young age. The family interaction projected that by which an individual is not worthy of emotional attention. The lack of sufficient positive emotional energy to thrive is then internalized as the fear of self. Behavior is reflected as insecurity manifested in “overachieving” to hid the true self (as perceived by individual due to lack of sufficient positive emotional interaction that the individual needed to flourish).
For example: If individual 1 has a fear of self and individual 2 has an understanding of individual 1’s fear, individual 2 then becomes a threat to individual 1 and thus becomes a target of individual 1 fear.
